Japanese GP: Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen under investigation

Max Verstappen has accused Charles Leclerc ofreckless driving and claims the Ferrari driver warrants a penalty after the group hit the first lap of the Japanese GP.
Verstappen moved across the outside of Leclerc at Turn Two and started well from fifth however, the racing line was taken by the Monegasque and shunted into the Red Bull. Verstappen spun while damage was picked up by Leclerc, but Verstappen had to retire while the Ferrari child finished sixth after a retrieval drive packaged with loads of overtaking.
The incident is under investigation, and both motorists will report to see the Suzuka stewards at 9am UK time (5pm neighborhood ).
We had a really good start for once, that was a favorable, an upset Verstappen informed Sky F1. And then I just stayed on the exterior and abruptly into turn two, Charles drove into the side of my vehicle.
From my side I do not think I could have done anything else there. We all know that you drop downforce supporting the car so thats not an excuse and that I think hes experienced enough to know that.
The bizarre thing is initially they didnt explore it straight away. My car is ruined. The side. There are holes in the cars face. And they will explore it after the race. What more should he do to have a penalty?
I like tough racing, but I do not think this was hard racing, I believe it was irresponsible driving into two. He had a poor start so for sure he was trying to recover places but there is just so much you can do. Its a shame that it happens
Leclerc added to Sky F1s Rachel Brookes:I havent seen the complete situation from the outside… in the car it had been only a tricky situation.
When asked if he expected a punishment, the Monegasque responded:I have no idea… I need to see that the incident.
More to follow…
